October 1, 2010 - MOVE IN DAY!

Woke up at 6:30 in the morning then left for the DB station. We were supposed to catch the 7:29 train but there was some confusion at first as to which train we should take. We were running late so instead of buying tickets at the counter, we bought them from a machine and just hoped we did the right thing. We got a Bayern ticket which is valid for up to 5 people and lasts for 24 hours. You can use it to go to any of the Bavaria states in Germany. Munich and Ingolstadt are part of that.

So we got on the train and relaxed, happy that we made it. (We had to catch that particular train cause we had to be in school by 9 am to sign our rent contracts, etc.) On the train, the ticket person (who only sometimes checks), asked for our ticket. Panj gave it and the woman looked at us, shook her head, and said "No." We couldn't understand her and she pointed at the fine print on ticket. It said a bunch of stuff in German then numbers that read "9.00-3.00" BAYERN TICKETS ARE FOR USE ONLY FROM 9 AM-3 AM! And it was only around 8! She told us to get down at the next stop! Streeesss! So we followed what she said and got down at...

PETERSHAUSEN. Hahahahaha! The place was deserted and it was super cold!

Woot! We have a photo in Petershausen!!

We checked the schedules and the next train going to Ingolstadt passing by was at 8:20. There was another one after that but if we took it, we'd definitely be late for our 9 am appointment. Sooo..we took the risk and rode the 8:20 one! The whole time, we were praning and hoping that no ticket person would come up to us and check. It was about a twenty-thirty minute ride maybe to Ingolstadt and the whole time my heart was beating super fast. But.. we made it! Nobody asked us for our tickets and we got to Ingolstadt safe!

Next, we went to school. From there, we walked to our dorms, had a quick tour, and signed our contracts. We met Chris, a really nice tutor who helped us out. He spoke English very well! He kinda looks like Chris O'Donnell from the side. Well, I think so. He's 25. Anyway, we went back to school to give the International office our papers then headed to the Rathaus (city hall) to fix other stuff. We passed by a bakery on the way. Did all the Rathaus stuff then back to school.

Next, the three of us went and had our favorite meal and our first one as residents of Ingolstadt! Turkey ham or döner, as they call it here, is amazing!

We took the bus to school (got lost for a bit) to get all of our luggage which we left at jugendeberge. We were supposed to meet Butch's tita there whose car we could use to move all our stuff from there to our dorms. Super hassle though cause the reception was closed and would open only at 4:30! And it was only around 2:30 then.

*Their open hours here are really weird, by the way. On Sundays, everything's closed, save for very few restaurants. All stores are closed talaga. And on Wednesdays, their banks close early! Weird.

Anyway, so we just put into the car all of our stuff that we brought to Munich which was a lot din naman. Butch's tita was really really nice! She brought us to our dorm and we hung out with her at Butch's place, then at Panj's. We talked a lot and made a list of home stuff we could buy that day.

At 4:30, we went back to the hostel to get all our stuff. Tita Susan, Butch's tita's car was something like the size of a Yaris so we didn't think everything would fit but it did! I wish I had a camera to take a picture of how we fit everything in! We dropped them off at our dorms then went to go shop for our new homes!

Riding a car for the first time was so fun. I've missed it. I've missed not being hassled and just being comfy and warm! Haha.

We went to this place where there were three big stores -- Tedi (a 1 euro store), Rossmans (kind of like a big Watson's), and Netto (a supermarket). We went to each of the three and bought all our essentials.

By the time we got to Netto though, we didn't have much time anymore cause tita had to go na. So all I was able to get was...6 huge bottles of water, 1 bottle of coke, and milk. HAHA. But she was so kind though, she bought each of us a pack of chocolates!

We dropped off our stuff at our dorms, said goodbye to tita, then walked to the city center to buy myself a LAN cable for my internet. We went to Kaufhof for that and a few other stores to look for cheap curtains for the two but we couldn't find any. Went home then finally, used the internet!!! Only my third time in Europe! Haha. It felt really cool to have my own place and to have privacy too!

That's all for now, tschüss!
