September 25, 2010 - Rainy Nürnberg

We moved out of our Fürth hotel and took the train to Nürnberg. Our hostel was right next to an old castle and the hostel itself was old and beautiful! We couldn't check in yet cause check in was at 3:00 and it was still too early. We left our things at the lockers available.

The guy at reception spoke English really well and he was helpful, pointing out places to us in the map where we could go and eat. We followed his suggestion and ate at Hütt'n, this nice place a little down the road. Our hostel was at the very top and everything else was down a long road.

This is where we ate. It was really cute!

What Panj and I shared for lunch

Pilit smile, haha.

After eating, we walked around. It was drizzling though and it was cold! So I couldn't take much pictures of the surroundings. We entered this building, thinking it was the stadt museum (city museum) but it was some other museum pala. It was an underground prison!

They stretched people in this room

Hallway. It was kinda freaky being there knowing how people were tortured there before. :(

Where they would have their last meals before being killed

Next we went to the Stadt Museum. While looking for it, we asked a man for directions. He said he wasn't from the city so we parted ways. About two-five minutes later, we saw him again, on our way back to where we came from and he was talking to other Germans. Then he talked to us and told us where to go. He asked for directions for us!!! So so kind.

Anyway, at the museum, we started at the top floor. They had this big wooden version of the entire city that took them four years to create! It was cool cause they told us the story of the city by lighting up the place they were discussing and at the same time, posting photos of the actual place on the screen.

This is the most beautiful room at the Stadt Museum, also called the Fembo Haus. It used to be a house, occupied by three different people at different times. One of them had the last name "Fembo" that's why it was called Fembo Haus. This room was a gift to Sabine, the wife of one of the people that lived there.

We explored and went around the rest of Nürnberg but I don't have photos cause it was drizzling and it was hard to take my camera out.

There was a market in the middle and it was nice! They were selling all kinds of stuff. There was a stage too and we saw some guys dance some German dance so that was cool.

What we had for dinner at Osteria! It was huge.

Back at our youth hostel to check in.

They had a hard time finding our reservation cause the room was under this name. Haha. I called the day before and I guess they didn't understand me when I spelled my name out.

Bonded with Panj in the room while Butch slept. We all took a nap, one that Butch and I woke up from...the next day. Haha. Sorry Panj! But the rain and walking got me tiiiirred! Oh and I forgot to mention! After we ate pizza, we walked up to our hostel and it was super hard cause it was at the top of the hill! And it was raining and super cold and the wind just kept on coming down on us! Super harddd.
